Ziggy's Pizza

So last month a sign posted off Douglas & Clifton advertising $6.00 Lime-A-Rita Pitcher's caught my eye. I immediately notified my husband and off on a date we went to that little restaurant, Ziggy's Pizza. Ziggys's is located in the Clifton Square Shopping Center in College Hill.

The Restaurant:
Ziggy's greets you with its outdoor patio surrounded by a white picket fence. Off to the left side of the patio are picnic tables for larger parties and an outdoor patio game. The wait staff greeted us when we walked in and offered us a seat on the patio, which we gladly accepted. However, inside the restaurant, there was open bar seating with overhead TVs, a back room with several tables and more TVs, and a fourth seating area that was set up for a private parties of 5-8 with direct access to the patio.

The Food:
I'm not going to lie, on our first venture to Ziggy's we solely sampled the drink specials and snacked on the "Cheesy Garlic Bread" appetizer, which my husband liked more than I did. ;) Yet, we made note of the menu that boasts wings, all types of sandwiches, and 10 different pizzas, and ice cream floats. Pleased with our post dinner drinks and snack, we returned the following week with a large group of friends and sampled the pizza menu.

Verdict: all of the pizzas we tried were tasty. They come in a contemporary rectangle shape which is kind of cool. But whatever the shape it was in the crust was great: golden; not too thick, not too thin; not doughy, but perfectly risen; and soft and crispy all at the same time. Yum.

We tried 4 pizzas:

The Meat Me pizza is toppings galore! As its title suggests, is like a Pizza Hut Meat Lovers pizza. Pilled with pepperoni, Italian sausage, smoked bacon, beef, Canadian bacon and just enough marinara, we were satisfied and gorged. Of course, I ordered extra marinara and a side of ranch, but the pizza would have been just as good without the extra sauces.

The White Delight was pretty yummy. It was topped with grilled chicken, smoked bacon, green peppers and red onions, with a cream cheese sauce versus marinara, but you get marinara on the side.

The Kickin' Chicken is similar to Wichita Brewing Co'.'s Mother McClucker (but not as spicy.) It comes with grilled chicken, onions, jalapeƱos, buffalo sauce, topped with ranch dressing. Needless to say, it was hot, but still very good. The ranch cooled off the heat and the jalapeƱos were not too hot.

The Classic Ziggy was good but not my favorite. It came with pepperoni, Italian sausage, green peppers, onion, fresh mushrooms, black olives and a marinara sauces. As you can see, there were just too many veggies on the pizza for my taste. Nonetheless, it was tasty.

The Drinks:
Ziggy's boasts a pretty good variety of draft and bottled beers for the size of the place. Last months special was $6 Lime-A-Rita and Strawber-Rita pitcher. They have there own summer brew (its super delicious) as well as $7.50 Shock-Top pitchers on Shocker Game Days.

It safe to say that after these tqo visits, we can add Ziggy's to the list of restaurants were they might call us regulars.
